Do you remember when Satan first tempted Adam and Eve to sin? He told them if they would break God's commandment that they would become like God. That is what sin is -- trying to be God. When a person kills him or herself, they have decided to play God. God is the giver and taker of life, not us, and He and He alone has the right to say when it is time to die. The Bible says, "you shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13) and suicide is self-murder. So, you see there are two sins involved: (1) playing God and, (2) murder. It is important to make clear that suicide is not an unforgivable sin. If a Christian commits suicide, that person will still go to heaven. Why? Because when you make a commitment to Christ, Jesus pays for all your sin: past, present, and future. The Bible says no one can take you away from Jesus (John 10:29). (See Question #6.)
