Question 17.
How do I know that God is really there for me?

God is there for you. If you have been made right with Him through a saving relationship with Jesus, then God is your Father. You are his kid. The same Bible that promises you eternal life, promises you that God will never leave you (Hebrews 13:5). God also promises that no one can take you away from Him (John 10:27-29).

Sometimes you may not "feel" like God is there for you, but the "facts" say He is. The Christian life comes down to making a choice: Do I believe my feelings or do I believe the facts? The facts are in God's Word. Our feelings can change instantly, but God and His Word are always the same.

If you are having doubts about God's faithfulness, then you need to know him better. When you do, you'll have no doubt that you can depend on him. No matter what your feelings are telling you, the facts will remain. "The word of the Lord stands forever" (1 Peter 1:25).

Begin "practicing the presence" of the Lord in your life. Ask God to make you sensitive to his presence in your life. Make sure there aren't any barriers between you and your heavenly Father. Try to read five Psalms each day. There are 150 Psalms altogether, so when you get to the last day of the month, start over with Psalm 1-5 and go through them again. Mark in your Bible every verse that has to do with his presence or faithfulness. Thank him each day for those promises!

HEBREWS 13:5 "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

JOHN 10:27-29 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.

1 PETER 1:25 The word of the Lord stands forever.
