![]() Choose the Topic you would like Al to Address: Question 18. I am afraid of dying. What should I do? You need to ask yourself this question, "Am I afraid of being dead or dying?" You can overcome your fear of being dead by accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. (See Question #34) When you have the assurance that you belong to him, then your fear will disappear. If you are afraid of dying, you are not alone. Unless you die in your sleep, dying involves two things: pain and the unknown. If you are a Christian, you have Gods promise he will be there to go through it with you. In Psalms 23:4, David said, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Another thing that will make dying less scary is understanding what heaven is like. Heaven, the Bible tells us, is the most beautiful place you can ever imagine. It is a real city where the streets are gold and the gates made of precious stones. You will have a mansion there (John 14:2) and live forever, never to be sick or sad again. Your friends and family who know Christ will be there too. You will recognize and know all of them. In heaven, you will have a new body with none of the problems or limitations of the old one. Imagine, eating and not getting fat! Or not being held back by gravity. How about flying and walking through walls? Heaven is a place of joy and perfect peace forever. The thing that will make heaven so great is that Jesus will be there. We will spend eternity with the one who died for us because he loved us so much. Now that is something to look forward to! PSALMS 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. JOHN 14:2 In my Fathers house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. |
