![]() Choose the Topic you would like Al to Address: Question 22. I am addicted to drugs/ alcohol and I need help. What should I do? You have shown an amazing amount of courage by this admission. Do not stop now--you're halfway to recovery! There is hope, there is healing, there is help! Jesus asked a man one day, "Do you want to be well?" Silly question? No, the truth is that there are people who do not want to be healed. If they were to get free of their problem, then they would have to face life and take responsibility like everyone else. No excuses. No more blaming failures on a problem. No more escaping. Admitting the truth about the mess you are in and your need for help is half the battle. Jesus not only heals people spiritually, He can heal them physically and psychologically too. It is not enough to simply break an addiction. You must find the root problem, and that's always a spiritual problem. What caused you to begin this self-destructive lifestyle? Unless you deal with the spiritual and emotional problems, you will never get free and stay free physically. The change must come from the inside out. You will need some professional Christian help. It must be Christian--if you leave out the spiritual and do not get Christ-centered, Biblically-based counsel, you are not getting to the heart of the problem. John 8:32 says, "The truth will make you free." Jesus said in John 14:6 "I am the truth..." He and He alone is your hope. Tell you parents, pastor, youth minister, or a Christian adult you trust immediately. They will help you take the next step. If you do not know anyone on whom you can call, then call us.
